Tour of Hardanger

2014-07-01 A 2-3 day tour of Hardanger, Norway. This trip has start and endpoints in northern Vestfold county, but can be modified to your hearts content. The trip is best done in May, when the fruit trees bloom in Hardanger. The mountain passes are usually rideable from mid-April to late September, at least.

Highlights include, in order of appearance:

• Hanekleiva and lake Eikeren (Rv319, Sande — Rv35)
• Dagali (Rv40, before Geilo)
• Hardangervidda (National tourist route, Rv7 between Geilo and Eidfjord)
• Vøringsfossen (Rv7, just before Eidfjord)
• Hardangerbrua (new bridge across the Hardangerfjord, replaces old ferry)
• Ulvikfjellet (Rv572)
• Hardangerfjord (Rv7 from Granvin to Tørvikbygd)
• Jondal — Utne (National tourist route, beautiful but lousy road condition)
• Valley of the waterfalls (incl. Låtefoss, Rv13 between Odda and Røldal)
• Beautiful Telemark (Rv362, Haukeligrend — Rauland)
• Myllargutvegen (Fv503 to Nutheim)
