2010-08-30The National Motor Museum Collections have been designated by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council as being of national and international importance.
The National Motor Museum collections include:
* Over 250 vehicles (cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles)
* 42,000 objects
* 1 million plus photographic images
* 100 linear metres of motoring archives
* Specialist Reference Library
* Film and Video Library
Vehicle and Object Collections represent motoring on the roads of Great Britain. Other collections have worldwide subject coverage. All relate to the motorcar, its development and social context.
The majority of the vehicles are on display in the Museum (however please check before visiting if you wish to see a particular vehicle). Other collections are stored and cared for in the Collections Centre;
Most, but not all, items at the National Motor Museum are owned by the Trust. Some items are on loan from other collectors or museums, and some from Lord Montagu. Other important collections including the Shell Art Collection and The Caravan Club Collection are hosted at the National Motor Museum. The Collections are growing all the time.
