The Shropshire Lads 'n' Lasses Scooter Club are a friendly bunch of rally-going scooterists, riding all types of traditional geared scooters and the newer automatic 4 stroke 'maxi scooters'.The club was born, from a number of 'badly named' clubs, in the latter part of 1988. A rally going club from day one, meetings were held at The Red Lion, in Great Chatwell (nr. Newport Shropshire), and comprised of approximately twenty members.The club was registered with the N.S.R.A and Great Yarmouth 1989 was the first National Rally attended by members as the club. The club continued until the early to mid 1990s, which saw a dramatic decrease in numbers across the scootering scene nationally.A number of clubs in Telford were effected by the reduction in members and so it was agreed that all of Telford's scooter clubs come together, under the banner of The Telford Scooter Club.Although being successful, the T.S.C disbanded in the late 90s. The core of the SLnLSC later joined the Telford Tigers S.C (reformed when the TSC disbanded) but 'something' was missing.In 2008, the club reformed in time for its 20th anniversary. Many old members returned to 'scootering' along with many new members which saw the club grow, exceeding previous year's membership. Currently, membership stands at 34 members who attend many National and International events. The club also organises, attends and sponsors events for local charities, believing in the importance of supporting the local community.
