Grande Prêmio do Brasil
Grande Prêmio do Brasil is the next event in the series of the MotoPG Championship 2014, taking place on the 28 of September, at Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet.
Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet also known as Jacarepaguá is a car and bike circuit with the length of 5476m and counter clockwise direction.
It was constructed in 1977 and named after triple World Champion Nelson Piquet.
Through the period between 1978 and 1989 the race track had been playing as the host for the Brazilian Grand Prix for ten times. After that the circuit was replaced by the Autódromo José Carlos Pace at Interlagos.
In 2012 the race track was demolished to make the venues for the Summer Olympics of 2016.
The original circuit was built between 1971 and 1977 on the site of the Barra da Tijuca road course, which had itself been built on reclaimed marshland and was operational from 1964 to 1970. The maximum spectator capacity was 90,000.
